Regier resigns as head of Department of Children& Families
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Department of Children & Families Secretary Jerry Regier said Monday he is resigning. Regier, who has been mired in controversy in recent months over his agency's handling of contracts, offered his resignation to Gov. Jeb Bush during an early afternoon meeting. DCF has been under intense scrutiny since two of Regier's top aides resigned in July. They were accused of taking favors from contractors in a critical report by Bush's inspector general. Regier apologized then for his own actions he said appeared improper, including staying at the home of a contractor doing business with his agency. But Regier said he didn't see a need to resign and Bush said Regier "has my confidence. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...TAM&SECTION=US Defend your civil liberties! It got so bad under Regier that columnists were openly wondering what Regier
