Default separate parties

Our twins turn 4 on Sunday, but we're having their party this Thursday. The
plan is to have two parties at the same time in the same place. The girls
will have a Princess theme (we only found out after we had planned it that
it's a trendy thing; been invited to two others Princes parties already
since then).

Our boy will have a fireman theme. Our boy has invited 5 friends, all boys,
and my girl has invited 5 girls. Two different cakes. Two different sets of
games/activities. I'll take the boys out back and do our games, and my wife
will have the girls inside doing their thing.

It's something we've never done before, so it should be interesting. Anyone
here ever tried such a thing?

I haven't tried it, but that sounds exactly like what my mom and dad
did for me and my brother years and years ago. He's 3 years older than
me, but his b-day is 2 days after mine. They took video of several of
them, and it seemed to work well. Dad monitored the boys and mom
monitored the girls. Plus other parents were there to watch and help.

Happy Birthday!! I hope it's a fun one!

It sounds like a great idea, James. Much better than having to do
parties on two different days...please post on Friday and let us know
how it went. Happy Birthday to the twins!!

This would be short notice, since the party is tomorrow, but if anyone has
an idea to share for princess-themed games that are age-appropriate, please
share. We Googled already, so I'm not asking for places to look; I'm hoping
someone will have an actual idea to pass along.

We have a couple of things, but would like one more.

Went pretty well.No hitches, really. The boys were int he yard, with a
fireman theme, and we had some games along those lines. I placed a few
stuffed animals in carious locations like trees and fences, about 4-5 feet
high, and let them climb the ladder to rescue them. I also had some stop,
drop and roll activity, and for the finale, we had some orange cellephane
pretending to be fire, attached ot the shed. The boys put out the fire with
water, in the form of water balloons.

The girls were inside, doing some crap with painted toenails and face
glitter. I'm not sure about the details.

The part where we ate the cake, opened gifts, and did a puppet show were all
co-ed activities.

It went well. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and the house was a mess
afterward.

what about like a bean bag toss, little bowling game (use what you have
around the house if you don't have a bowling game). Not knowing what kinda
games you already have in mind, it's hard to know what kinda games to
suggest, but I hope this helps.

Well, since your reply came 7 weeks after I asked my question, I'll file it
away for next year.
