I think Jaden has developed object permanence. Yesterday he *really*
wanted to nurse and started grabbing at my shirt, pulling the neck of it
away from me, and rubbing his face all over me trying to latch right
through the fabric. I'd say he knows the boob is still there even when
it's covered up!

*snicker*

Yes, Gwendobaby does this too. The other thing she's been doing, when she's
REALLY hungry, is doing the open-mouth dive for any bare flesh: chin, nose,
cheek....she did this to a friend who was holding her, too. If it's
protruding and she's hungry, look out! It really irritates her though when
she's hungry and wants to latch on, but she can't because my shirt's in the
way. It's lip-rub-lip-rub-lick-lick...hey! wail of frustration, repeat.

My DD does the same! She just frantically roots around for it when she
decides it's time. I know it's in there somewhere....

Lann just started doing this sort of thing too. It started after he had
his little nursing strike a few weeks ago and makes me feel reassured
that he really does like to nurse! He will lean over toward the breast
while I'm holding him and start rubbing his face around. He also has
started sucking on my neck or face as an "I'm hungry" signal :-D

This thread is so cute! It's making me long for the days when my soon
to be number three is doing this adorable stuff. :-)

I was thinking a few minutes ago, and I realized that I have been
either nursing, pregnant or both for 4 years and 4 months, and I have
spent 3 years and 8 months of that time nursing. This is a big chunk
of time! I wouldn't trade it for baby-free years or formula fed
babies though, not on your life!

For me, it has now been 7 years, 8 months either nursing, pregnant or both
and 6 years plus almost 1 month of nursing. (Now, I'm sure someone will come
in and top that!)

Me neither! I am sure I'll be sad when Vernon weans (assuming no #4).

You asked for it

Let's see. I got pregnant in January of 1986... and it's now March 28, 2004.
I think that makes it somewhere around 18 years and 3 1/2 months? My brain
is long gone these days. 17 years, 6 months and 19 days of breastfeeding
(with 6 days off in 1997) with a good couple years left since my 3.5 year
old and 10.5 months old are both still nursing.
