Public Health Policy / Promotion tool now available in the UK
Dear reader -
I apologise in advance if this communication is intrusive. This post is intended to be informative and to contribute within the spirit of this group. I wanted to inform you of a public health policy / promotion tool that is now available in the UK. This tool is called the Circle of Health and has recently been met with critical acclaim following reviews amongst the NHS's C.H.A.I.N (February 2004), the CPHVA magazine (March 2004) and Public Health News (April 5, 2004). The Circle of Health is a three-part paper-based kit comprised of a set of interactive circles, a learning guide and a background information kit. The Circle provides a visual image of what makes and keeps us healthy. The center rings depict what determines health, who is involved, and how to maintain and improve health. The purple core and base of the framework represent health promotion values, both individual and societal. The values component is the underpinning of the entire framework, encouraging the user to consider a balance between individual and societal values. The three dimensional rainbow coloured framework is visually integrated, allowing you to move sections of the framework to explore how the components of health promotion i.e. values, determinants, strategies and populations work together. There are several suitable audiences for this tool: * health promotion planners * public and private sector health care providers * health and safety officers in corporate environments * school nurses * nursing students * community relations officers (for example, in Local Councils and police departments) * researchers and evaluators * anyone who wants to promote a common understanding of health Our existing customers are using the tool in a variety of interesting ways including: * research * nurse training and curricula * assessing and formulating policy for * obesity in society * teenage sexuality * smoking cessation * coping with disease * educating others outside the public health field The Circle of Health has been rigorously tested amongst several audiences and has been optimised for ease of use amongst: * users who do not have English as their first language * multiple cultures and demographic backgrounds * those challenged with physical mobility issues More information about this kit and ordering information may be obtained he http://www.ebooster.co.uk A discussion group is available he http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ebooster_office/ Thank you for your interest, Chris M. |
