What a brave woman! (How sad the state of affairs
that their health care system -- or lack thereof -- drove
her to this!)

It is sad. I wonder what the whole story is. I mean, she ended up in the
hospital anyway, so I wonder why she couldn't be in the hospital for the
birth? Could she not get there? Did they not take her?

She was 8 hours away from the nearest hospital. She probably didn't even
realize she might need to go to a hospital until it was too late to do
anything.

8 hours? Wow. I'm surprised she lived long enough to get there.

Holy cow. That really puts things in perspective. I simply can't begin to
imagine how frightened that poor woman must have been :-(

Well the article said one of her other children got a nurse who came over
and stitched her up before she made the trip to the hospital (with cotton
thread and a sewing needle).

Still . . . 8 hours? I'd have died of shock.

Wow, she sure was brave. I would have needed alot more than 3 glasses
of hard liquor.
