Default Wandering back in

Hi all

I was here a couple of years ago, although I posted more on mkp. I'm back
now with baby #2 He's 12 weeks old, and feeding well.... I must admit I
wasn't doing so well at feeding this time - having a 2 year old demanding
cuddles everytime I tried to breastfeed was kind of doing my head in, and
he's a real hungry boy, but formula makes him scream in pain with his tummy
and constipates him, so we're back on the bf'ing road Yeah, I'll admit
it, I'm glad I've stuck with it. I fed DD until she was 8 months, and always
intended to do at the least the same again, just needed him to nag me into
it!

He's a totally different baby. DD was short and fat, where as he's really
long and relatively skinny - his legs looked premature when I had him,
despite him being 8lb 15oz at birth! He was 22inches long tho, so I guess
that's where the weight went! He's not gaining at the extrordinary rate that
DD did, but he's staying on the same centile rate, so I'm happy with that

Anyway, see you all around

Lucy, pleased to be dragged back to breastfeeding

Congrats, again! He's such a handsome little guy!
Glad to hear that things seem to be going well. Especially since you had
some major dealings before he was born.
I'm also back here with yet another nursling still
I've found that each baby seems to be soooo different.
DS, for the first little while, was nursing every 3 hours during the day and
every 4 hours at night - you could literally set a clock to him. He also
didn't sleep through the night until he was exactly 6 months old 6
months to the day LOL He also nursed for 18 months and self-weaned at that
point, although from about a year or so and on, it was nursing at night
before bed, first thing in the morning and occasionally during the day.
DD1 slept through the night the first night we were home. She slept a good
6-7 hours through the night right from the start and by about 3 months, she
was sleeping a good 12 hours at night. Unfortunately, we had some major,
major BFing issues. I had some major issues with that and I had spent so
much time at the breastfeeding clinic here, renting the hospital-grade
Medela pump, taking a perscription, fenugreek, tons of water, oatmeal... You
name it, I tried it. She was done nursing around 6ish months when she was
losing a lot of weight and there was some obvious issues with the BFing
Also, though, with her... As it turns out now, she has some MAJOR speech
delays and I think that the speech and nursing went hand in hand, although
didn't think that until recently... Anyways...
DD2 was a pretty much clockwork nurser as well, although not as set as DS
was. DD2 also didn't sleep through the night until around a year - and this
was after N actually told me he was sick of DD2 in bed with us and to put
her in her own room. Wouldn't you know it, the first night she was in her
own bed in her own room she slept right through the night for the first time
without waking to feed LOL DD2 also weaned at almost exactly 22 months -
sooner than *I* was ready - but at that point, I was pregnant with DD3 and I
really do think DD2 weaned because the well dried up for her - which I was
told isn't uncommon in pregnancy! So, she was done when her boobies
provided more effort than it was worth to her LOL
DD3 is only 4 weeks exactly today. She's nursing like a champ and tends to
have a strange feeding schedule. It's kind of whenever. I really don't
know how long she sleeps at night, but that's because if and when she wakes
to feed at night, I don't even really wake up lol I just haul one out and
feed while we both lay down and both pretty much stay asleep! I'm hoping
she'll nurse as long as DD2, or longer, but we'll have to see! That might
change for me in time haha
So... with all that rambling, it really does seem to me that each baby can
be sooooo different. If his weight gain is steady, then that's great.
Sounds like you're both doing great. I also often have the "want to cuddle"
thing to deal with, mostly with clingy DD2. I don't know if it's possible
for you, but one thing that kind of works for me is kind of laying down on
the couch to feed DD3 and DD2 will sit between my legs - one of my legs
behind her the other she kind of sits and puts her legs over my one and it
allows her to stay clingy and close. There's also enough room then for DD1
as well, and even DS if he so desires!
