Question on Weight Gain during preg.
Hello the
I am pregnant and we are expecting baby mid jan 04 I have a question about weight gain. I was 115lb before pregnancy ( 5 feet 2inches tall ) and now I am 146 lb and this is my 34th week. So I have gained around 30 lbs. I was wondering if this is a normal gain or am I not gaining enough. My husband says I don't seem to have gained enough weight. I am a bit worried now I would appreciate any responses. Thanks |

That sounds about right. I think I gained around 30-35 pounds during
pregnancy. -- Sue (mom to three girls) I'm Just a Raggedy Ann in a Barbie Doll World... Dotnet_Is_Love wrote in message om... I am a bit worried now Well, the real answer is that there's no way to tell from the information you've given. The real answer lies in the answer to the question, "Have you been eating a healthy and varied diet during your pregnancy?" If the answer to that is yes, then you've gained enough weight and that's all you need to worry about. However, if you want to fuss over pounds (which are relatively meaningless, as different women gain differently), you're still well within what is generally considered "normal." Best wishes, Ericka |

Question on Weight Gain during preg.

lb and this is my 34th week. So I have gained around 30 lbs. I was wondering if this is a normal gain or am I not gaining enough. My husband says I don't seem to have gained enough weight. I am a bit worried now That sounds about average to me. I think 25-35 pounds is considered typical. You may end up gaining a bit more than that (though weight gain usually slows down in the last couple of weeks.) The main thing to keep your eye on isn't the number of pounds (which, barring extreme deviations from the norm, or sudden gains of several pounds which could be s warning sign for pre-eclampsia or other problems), but that you are eating healthily. If you are eating healthy food (a little junks ok too -- no need to be obsessive...), and are eating enough that you are comfortable (neither stuffing yourself nor starving yourself), you can trust your body to put on the right number of pounds. (Which, for some women will be a lot, for some not much at all.) Given that you were fairly thin pre-preg, if your weight gain was very low, I might be concerned that you were still not eating enough, but 30 pounds is probably right about average for this point in the pregnancy, or maybe even slightly above average.
