In some ways colder is easier to take. I liked the winters in Minnesota (where
for weeks at a time it is too cold to snow, so you have roads and sidewalks
that stay clear) much more than the ones in Worcester, Mass., where things kept
melting and freezing and melting and freezing, so that there was always snow
and ice all over everything. I fell down more times in one winter in
Massachusetts than I did in my whole four years in Minnesota.

Getting spring and then having winter come back for a week a couple of times in
a row is rather a pain, though. The English department was always trying to
plan a picnic for Shakespeare's birthday (late April) based on the nice weather
in early April, and getting caught by a snowstorm.

What I'm looking forward to, are the summers! I hate hot
weather, and 10-15 degrees cooler in the summer is VERY welcome. :-)

I suppose it is cooler in the summer than Missouri, but it gives me rather a
shock to think of a midwestern summer described as cooler than anywhere, if you
see what I mean! Anything much above eighty is just too hot, as far as I am
concerned.

I'm in the south part of the state. I'm 30 miles south of Minneapolis,
and YES I'm relieved, though the boxes are totally in the way, and are
irritating. I can't find anything, either!

Hope you don't have a drafty home! I live in an old farmhouse that really
needs some serious draft control. It can get downright cold now and then,
but for the most part the winters aren't that bad... they just tend to drag
on forever sometimes. We had a fabulous summer this year.

It is a norweigen crepe.. HUGE and you eat it with butter and sugar or
strawberries.. I live in Wisconsin.. My husband is 1/2 Norweigen and 1/4
Swedish.. I hear about all sorts of weird foods.. Luckily DH is all

when it comes to food preferances.. Though I must admit I LOVE potatoe
sausage.. but I think that you would not be able to eat it being a
vegetarian

Just wanted to add that lefse is made out of potatoes and flour. My mom
loves to eat lefse with cream cheese on it, but she's weird. I am not a
lefse fan (bland, blah, boring), but it is a big holiday treat in these
parts (and plenty of people eat it year round). We have a restaurant nearby
named the Norske Nook, and they sell homemade lefse.

electric foot and shoe warmers because my feet were permanent blocks
of ice. But our "new" place was built in 1954, and seems a bit

My FIL LOVES Norske Nook! If he gets to pic where to eat and we are in Rice
Lake he will either pick there or subway.. My MIL will pick either Taco
Johns or The Chinese Buffet... I LOVE the buffet.. Cant get good chinese
round here I forgot what I had when I went to the Norske Nook... It was

Norske Nook is good. When my grandma was alive, she ate there ALL the
time!
Some of my fondest memories are conversations had at Norske Nook with
grandma. I pretty much ate there every week the last month or two of
my
first pregnancy, though it's been a really long time since I've been there
now. They have good pie if you like pie.

I've eaten at The Chinese Buffet only once. My husband hates Chinese
food,
so I very seldom have it when we're out. Of course, we live too far away
to
order it or get takeout. We're about 30 minutes from RL. There's also an
Applebee's now, y'know!

Brrrr... sounds cold in NJ farmhouse. I am practically non-functional when
the wind is blowing and it's below zero because I can't get my feet warm
enough. I usually pile on a bunch of blankets and don't accomplish
anything. Our home probably isn't even a hundred years old, but it is
drafty!
