Default Modification of custody: what is required

I'm going to ask you all what is required to get a modification of a
custody arrangement currently in place (not based upon any case I have
or any real case). Is it simple ("your honor, circumstances have
changed to where I can support the child 50 percent of the time"), or do
you have to basically successfully slime the other person as a worthless
loser in order to even get joint custody?

It depends on who the other parent is. Is he/she willing to work out a
plan you agree with? Fee out there are reasonable, but unfortunately,
there are many that will insist on playing dirty.

no matter who you are dealing with, get it in writing as an order from
the court. The person may be willing to come to an agreement but may
change his/her mind later.
