Death may scare public off H1N1 shot

Nov. 9, 2009
Judy Siegel-Itzkovich , THE JERUSALEM POST
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satelli...cle%2FShowFull

The sudden death of a 75-year-old man at home on Friday, two days after he
was vaccinated against the H1N1 (swine flu) virus may lead others to
hesitate to get vaccinated, officials say.

Such an event was feared by the Health Ministry and the Prime Minister's
Office, which launched an expensive vaccination campaign just a few days
ago.

The death "apparently" had nothing to do with the shot, the ministry said.

The man, who lived in Bat Yam but was not further identified, had been
undergoing ambulatory dialysis for acute renal insufficiency and also
suffered from heart disease. His family refused to allow an autopsy, the
ministry said, so the exact cause of death cannot be determined.

The ministry said on Sunday that the first group to get their shots are
those at high risk for complications of the H1N1 flu and that it is "likely"
that his serious diseases caused his death.

By instruction of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, some 7.3 million doses
of H1N1 flu vaccine - enough for every resident over the age of six months -
have been ordered at a cost of NIS 500 million.

Although Health Ministry public health officials advised Netanyahu - who
holds the health portfolio, though the ministry is run by Deputy Health
Minister Ya'acov Litzman - to import many fewer doses, Netanyahu decided
otherwise.

The prime minister appeared at the press conference that launched the
campaign and called on everyone to get the shot as a "civic duty" even
though he himself did not bare his arm; his spokesman said Netanyahu would
"consult with his personal physician" before deciding whether to be
vaccinated.

Litzman, who was also at the press conference, didn't take the shot, either,
but Health Ministry director-general Dr. Eitan Hai-Am did, as the cameras
clicked.

The ministry said that the H1N1 vaccines are strongly endorsed by the World
Health Organization.

In the fall of 2006, after two elderly men died a few days after getting
vaccinated at their health fund clinic against ordinary flu, Israelis nearly
stopped getting the shots. Even then-health minister Ya'acov Ben-Yizri, 79,
getting a flu shot on camera to build public confidence flopped. As a
result, many hundreds of thousands of doses had to be destroyed because they
are effective for only a year.

The H1N1 vaccine may also be unusable next fall and winter if the virus
mutates into a different strain.

Several months ago, a ministry poll showed that at least a quarter of the
public said they were not interested in getting an H1N1 flu shot. So far,
the queues for getting the H1N1 flu shot have been short.

Since Rosh Hashana, more than 13 percent of the public has gone for a
seasonal flu shot, including only about half of the elderly who are at high
risk.

Dr. Itamar Grotto, the Health Ministry's chief of public health, said on
Sunday night that some 10,000 people - especially medical staffers, as well
as patients at high risk for complications of the H1N1 flu - have been
vaccinated so far.

After any vaccination, the individual must wait in the clinic for 20 minutes
to make sure he is not among the very rare people who have a severe reaction
from an allergy to the egg white in which the vaccine is prepared.

A 75 year old man with heart disease and kidney failure dies suddenly
(but hardly unexpectedly) and you think it is caused by a vaccination
2 days earlier? Even by your normal standards of imaginative
misinterpretation this seems a bit unlikely.

There is an inconsistency: when someone with a serious illness contracts
H1N1 flu and then dies then it is "obvious" that the swine flu was the
primary cause or at least a contributing factor. But when someone with
a serious illness gets an H1N1 jab and dies shortly afterwards then
the vaccine is never a factor. Never! How come?

And please no BS about "we know how it works, it does not kill anyone" -
this is circular logic.

Note the last statement regarding *any* vaccination, and allergy to egg
white..............

As usual John is an idiot, bases his beliefs on unfounded ole wives
tales, hearsay, rumors, and delusions of a paranoid mind. But heh, he
*is* one whale of a guy.

Had you read the full article you would have seen a mention of egg white

that you have an agenda of your own sort of like that *fool* twirp

Those dying from the H1N1 virus typically wind up in hospital with
respiratory failure and requiring ventilation before succumbing to that
fairly common and obvious complication of the illness.

This man died suddenly at home, a not uncommon event in both vaccinated and
unvaccinated elderly people. It could be related to the vaccine, but only
finding an unusual number of associated sudden deaths would make that the
most likely interpretation..

PM.

I did not say it is the most likely interpretation. I said that
it cannot be ruled out as a contributing factor. All vaccines have side
effects, for some even death is included as a possible side effect in
the vaccine inserts.

You lie. Here is a quote about egg white:
************************************************** ****
After any vaccination, the individual must wait in the clinic
for 20 minutes to make sure he is not among the very rare people
who have a severe reaction from an allergy to the egg white in
which the vaccine is prepared.
************************************************** ****
There is nothing in the article suggesting the unfortunate man
had an egg allergy.
Is your name ignorant Mike, Mikie the one with poor reading
comprehension, Mikey the poor bumbling fool that cannot put two
and two together? Yes.

You said, "There is an inconsistency: when someone with a serious

Then the article stated the allergic reaction. It was a
possibility, no one said it was his reaction. There was just a
mention in the article had you read it enumerating contributing
factors. Then bright boy there is the issue of a 10 day period
for the vaccine to take effect, then there is also his well known
health problems.

You were the one looking to see, or so you say, plausible reasons
that it wasn't the vaccine, but at the same time leaning towards
blaming the vaccine anyhow.

All you idiots sound like something from the 17th century who had
multiple fears, and everything was voodoo and witchcraft. We do
not live in a perfect world. You take your chances and live or
die by them. It is easier to be killed by a car than vaccine. It
is easier to die in a war then by vaccine. Heck, it is easier to
die from a household accident then a vaccine. It is far more
likely that you will die from a virus then a vaccine.

So, Peter, have you had the shot or the mist yet? Why not? Are you
going to give it to your family too? Please do so soon.
C'mon here "t" your daddy wants to give his little boy a kiss.
C'mon, just a little closer..

C'mon, don't be afraid of your daddy......

BACK OFF SUCKER! THAT'S SOME BAD BREATH YOU'VE GOT GOIN ON THERE!

PHEW!
So, you have not taken the shot or the mist that you want everyone
else to take. Nice. And, you know nothing about it beyond what you
are told by the sellers of it. Hey, I have a car out back that only
needs a little work and it will get great mileage and go 300MPH. I
will let you buy it . No you do not need to see it before you buy
it, just trust me.

Use your brain, oh sorry..... Let me help you understand, I am not in
any of the groups that come first for the vaccination and as you know
there is a slight shortfall of meds.

That said I have a natural resistance to such things due to the
nature of my profession/practice/occupation/work/etc. In other words
ask if you will that is my answer.

So pay a "doctor" enough and I am sure that you can get some of the
"short" vac. Do it for research, your self, to proove your point, who
cares why. I believe you will not get it even if they have buckets
full. I believe that you are full of ****.

Let me get this straight, I don't need it, but you want me to pay enough
(bribe) a doctor to get so and possibly steal a life from someone that
needs it to somehow prove your point?

Yes. you are as sick as Jan.
