Fetal Heart rate

Hi,

My wife is in her seventh week and we just had an ultra-scan. The
fetal heart rate was 107, which is not normal as I understand that it
should be close to 150. The doctor says this is not a matter of
concern as she has seen cases where the rate was as low as 60 and
things still went on fine. She says no scan is required until the
thirteenth week.

Anyone out there who faced a similar situation with a lower than
normal fetal rate?

Not me, sorry. I'd just recommend to go in for a Doppler check in a week
or so. Your doctor may be right and the baby just had a low heartrate at
the time of the u/s, but you'd better be sure. A simple Doppler scan will
tell you. If something is out of the ordinary, it's better caught soon.
