I like the way your son thinks. I like old traditional names myself.

Well, apparently my ds has inherited my sense of style taste for classic,
suble and non-trendy.

When we found out we were having a girl, he told me it should be named

Emma.
I told him I'd put it on the "short list".

Yesterday he told me that he also likes Emily and Katherine. He made sure

to
tell me to "put them on the high list, not the low list".

LOL.

Emily has become quite trendy lately. It's my grandmother's name, and when
my sister & I were born I think my parents considered it a little
fuddy-duddy and old fashioned, but it's right back up there now. It's
pretty, but I couldn't talk DH into it, besides this one is getting his
grandmother's name as a middle name, and the two wouldn't have gone
together.

I love all those names. Alas, I think they are way too popular at the

moment
for me to use them. _Friends_ appears to have boosted the popularity of

Emma
dramatically--it was the #2 girl's name last year.

Oh, I didn't even think of that.

But having a popular name
yourself, perhaps you don't mind so much the idea of giving your child a
name that's popular.

Exactly. See above.

Hehe that is adorable.

Thanks. He's pretty funny sometimes. It's a great age for him to be while
I'm pregnant. He was very sure that the baby ate while in my uterus by my
breasts squirting milk into my mouth, going down to my belly and to the
baby, lol. I had to have the whole umbillical cord/placenta discussion. He's
stubborn though. He still *insists* that she's drinking breastmilk in there.

I love that name as well as Emma Grace and Elizabeth Grace. Now we have to
wait to see if "Flutterbee" is a girl :-)

Yep. Emma is the first name he chose. Middle name is Grace no matter what
because of dh's deceased grandmother. We want to honor her. I like Elizabeth
Grace is very pretty also. Elizabeth is my middle name.

Well, ya know, I recognize that a lot of parents clearly choose names that
they like regardless of popularity. That's how names get to be "popular" in
the first place g. I'm just funny this way and my husband is even
funnier--he is *so* difficult to please when it comes to finding names that
are both traditional enough and unusual enough to suit him.

Be well, Barbara
Mom to Sin (Vernon, 2), Misery (Aurora, 4), and the Rising Son (Julian, 6)

Aurora (in the bathroom with her dad)--"It looks like an elephant, Daddy."
Me (later)--"You should feel flattered."

All opinions expressed in this post are well-reasoned and insightful.
Needless to say, they are not those of my Internet Service Provider, its
other subscribers or lackeys. Anyone who says otherwise is itchin' for a

Yes, I remember that thread you started about choosing a possible fourth
child's name. So many syllables in one name, so many in the other, ends in
certain vowel, etc...lol! My head hurt trying to think of something so I
never did.

Elizabeth is the name of my deceased grandmother (my father's mother). If
it's a girl, I am pretty sure we will have it somewhere in the name. If it's
a boy, then John or Jonathan will be in there for my dad who is deceased
also unfortunately.
