Tiny lumps in nipple

My right nipple has been sore recently and I've noticed a couple of very
small lumps, like grains of sand under the skin in the nipple. They're not
visible to the eye, but I can feel them by pulling the nipple upwards
between my fingers. I think I may have caused it by feeding side-lying on my
left side and giving the right breast also while lying on the left, so that
my two-year-old's latch on it might not be as good.
Surely if these were blocked ducts, they would clear by massaging the nipple
downwards under warm water? I can't actually -see- a blocked opening, or a
white spot, or anything like that. Perhaps I should just leave it alone, I
think fiddling with it might be making it worse. :-/
