Newbie to child support

Because it is true in my state (California). Child support obligations
begin upon filing for child support in California.

On the contrary, we live in California, and my husband was ordered to pay
2 years back support plus interest when he discovered by blood test that
he had a nearly 13 year old daughter 4 years ago. He is still paying off
the arrears.

Is that girl 17 +/- already? Whoo-hoo!! It's darn near party time! My oldest
is going
to be 27 in April (and my youngest, 11, 3 days later). I feel a mid-life
crisis coming on.

17 on April 6. But he pays until 19 or high school graduation, whichever is
first. It will definitely be 19. But still, only a couple of years left.

Our oldest turns 13 an May and our youngest 12 in Oct. I'm not quite sure
where time has gone!
