Default Employment at will or Just cause?

What states are Just Cause and what are at will? I know california is
at will as most other states. But I know that Canada is Just Cause. I
hate at will employment because a employer may terminate you for no good
reason or no reason at all. A employer may accuse you for stealing
something or doing something that you did not and terminate you. Often
employment lawyers cant do anything, because employment is at will.
Companies cant take you to court, because there they would need hard
evidence to support their lies.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but employment 'at will' means that
'employees' have just a little more than a slave-owner relationship.
You can be paid irregularly or late or never. You can be forced to
work long hours without compensation. You can be dehumanized however
your boss suits. You can be (as you say) accused of fabricated
wrong-doings. You can be denied promotions. BUT... you are free to
terminate this arrangement any time you want to because the terms are
'at will' employment.

There are laws on the books to protect employees, but know this... If
you ever tried to enforce one of these laws, you would be hard-pressed
to find a judge to rule in your favor (and I don't even know what your
issues are!). And that is how the lawyers approach it as well.

You are right 100%. Employers lie. Best tip of the day is to never,
never work for one of Fortune's Top 100 employers. The entire picture
they paint is nothing more than an advertising ploy. In fact,
employers pay their way onto the list. The few top 100 that I have
worked for have the employment 'at will' policy in place and have been
the worst offenders of all aspects of Title VII law and other human
rights laws.

If you want to work for a fair employer who, perhaps, has an at-will
policy, ask a friend what the deal is with the company. There are good
employers out there, despite the giants with deep political ties and
deep money for bullying however they see fit.

A recent change in law has also put the onus of proof on the little guy
(the working man) to prove his case vs. the employer justifying cause
for negative actions.

Good luck!
