Default Activities for body position

Carrying heavy loads

Let your child carry the bottles of soda to the picnic
site or a grocery bag with non-breakable items into
the house or a load of books or blocks or a pail of
water from one spot to another

Pushing and Pulling

Let your child push a wheelbarrow, pull a wagon,
push the stroller, vaccuum, rake, pull a friend on
a sled.

Hanging from a chinning bar

Use the monkey bars at the park or hang a chinning
bar from a doorway in your house

Pillow crashing

Pile pillows, beanbag chairs, cushions, downy
comfortors in a corner and let your child jump,
dive, roll, stretch and burrow in them
You can make a crash cushion by stuffing large
foam scraps into a comforter cover or two
sheets sewn together to make large bag.

Hermit Crab

Place a large bag of rice or beans on a child's
back to make a *shell* and have him move around
with it.

Bear Hugs

Pouring

Put sand, beans, rice or water into a pitcher and
let her pour from one container into another

Opening doors

Let him open the door for you even though it takes
more time

Ripping paper

Give her yesterday's newspaper and let her tear it
into confetti. Magazines are good too
(You can let her glue it on another paper
to make a collage)

Back to back standing up.

Position two children sitting on the floor back to
back and have them try to stand up together

Tug of War

Try this standing, sitting or kneeling.

Bulldozer

Have one child sit in a large cardboard box and
let another child try to push him across the floor
using his feet, shoulders, head or back to make
it move.

Playing Catch

Toss a large pillow back and forth

Roughhousing

Pushing, pulling or rolling with an adult or other
friend can feel good all over, but supervise
carefully to be sure that the child is not over
stimulated and don't tickle, or pull on clothing

Arm Wrestling (let him win once in a while
though)

Leapfrog

Horsie

Any playful contact sport
