Default AF after Baby

Hello all...

I got my first real period yesterday after Leopold. It is really
heavy. I usually don't have heavy periods. I feel like I am
flooding.

Please tell me this just my body working itself out after having a
baby. Is that it??

I don't know but after every kid my periods got heavier then before with
allot more cramping so after 4 I'm really getting it bad.

I also just yesterday started having a real period since having Amanda ,I
was having just a day or 2 of spotting.

Like you it is really heavy worse then ever,I'm soaking a reg tampon in a hr
all day today and was thinking of coming here and asking if that is too
much.
At this rate I'm surprised I have any blood left in my body lol

Mine were the opposite - much lighter and not painful at all after having DD
(I had endometriosis before I had DD). That is probably no real comfort to
you, but my point is that AF has been much different for me after giving
birth.
Maybe its just your body getting back into the swing of things.

Ditto. I think it's normal and common for your body's cycle to change after
childbirth.

Me too. I had endemetriosis (in fact am missing right ovary and part of tube
due to it). I used to have horrible painful heavy long periods. After my
surgery in 89, they got better. After I had DS, they became regular as
clockwork unless I was under a lot of stress and they were shorter. I had my
first period after DS approx 2 1/2 mos after he was born and it was pretty
heavy but they became regular and lighter a month or two later. HTH

When mine got heavier after having kids, I chalked it up to it being
the way things were.

Last year, I was dx'd with hypothyroidism, and heavy periods are one
of many signs. I guess it's fairly common for your thyroid to go wonky
during pregnancy and then it's supposed to get back to normal in the
months after birth. For some women tho, it becomes regular
hypothyroidism.

Since I've been on my thyroid meds, my periods have been much lighter
and easier to deal with.

Probably. And just because this one is heavy doesn't mean they all
will be. Mine were always fairly light and painless before kids and
between kids, this time around they alternate between crampy and light
or painless and heavy which are weird combinations.

After Luke mine were significantly heavier but easier to deal with. A few
months after weaning they lightened up to a regular flow but the awful
cramps and pms returned as well so I can't win :-(

I have heard that he first 2-3 can be really wonky so there is a lot of
hope for you!
