Default Handheld Contraction Timer

I remember, a while ago, someone asked about a tool for timing his wife's
contractions for his handheld. I don't remember if it was for a Pocket PC or
a Palm, but I found fourfor the Palm system.

I've downloaded the freeware one, and it is kind of neat.

To find them, all I had to do was a search on Palmgear.com for
"contraction".

There is also one I found for the Pocket PC, but I haven't tried it. It's
also a freebee:

I also remember that poster got quite mad because he hadn't received any
response to his inquiry... Well. Better late than never, right?

A handheld contraction timer? Wouldn't that be called a watch, or stop
watch? : )

I think she's talking about something where you can just hit a button when
the contraction starts, another when it stops, and it will do the math for
you.

Personally, I think timing contractions is sort of pointless.

I think there was a discussion here a while back, and I ended up
downloading Labor Timer for my Palm.

Verdict: brilliant!!

I was sitting at my computer on a Saturday afternoon when I started
getting very mild period-like cramping. Using the Labor Timer, I didn't
even have to take my mind off what I was doing (probably reading mkp
). And after a few hours, I took a look at my Palm and noticed how
the "cramps" were getting longer and closer together. Course, after
five hours and ringing the midwife, they fizzled out, but at least I
hadn't been using a watch and pen and paper and getting all stressed
out.

However, later on that night, when the cramping returned with a
vengeance, I definitely didn't feel like timing anymore!

My point exactly. As long as the contractions are iffy enough that I have to
time them to figure out if they're 'real', they're by definition not real
enough to bother timing them. If they're significant enough to be worth
timing, I don't need to time them because I *know* they're coming fast and
hard.

It's not for me: it's for DH. Some guys are like that: they like to have
hard numbers in front of them. Mine is a real techie, and he will feel much
more "in control" (hh ha) if he feels he can watch over things, and get nice
graphs and pie charts out of it!

LOL-so THAT's why I have four color graphs of my blood pressure since April!

Actually, I could see this being more useful earlier than later-right now,
there are times when I AM timing BH contractions to be sure they're not a
reason to panic.
