Default gifted kids parents

hi
I searched this group for parents and kids that have the "gifted"
label
I have a 9 yr old d.d in the 3rd grade and am always looking for
discussion on this subject.
anyone gifted parents ,kids, want to talk .
How is the school system treating you?
What kind of I.Q. tests have you taken?
What does this label mean in your schools especially at the upper
grades?
I am still very apprehensive about this label and do not know how
she would do in another school that did not recognize this (like a
magnet )school .
She is not a prodigy but went into kgarten yrs ahead of the required
knowledge abc,123
she was spelling and doing math so they kind of "had" to do
something
She just won the spelling bee for her school(320 kids)
Rick in wichita ks.

All that really matters is that your child's needs
are being met. Even when you're talking about "gifted" kids,
they're not all the same. There's a huge amount of variation.
How well schools can accommodate varies tremendously as well.
Some schools without formal gifted programs accommodate gifted
kids better than schools with what look like extensive gifted
programs. The bottom line is that you just have to educate
yourself, learn what your child really needs, and then advocate
for your child until she gets that.

Best wishes,
Ericka
