Default Urgent help: A book on appropriate foods for baby

I know what I should and should not feed a six month old. I have a
fairly good idea. But my family doesn't. Since I leave my dd with my
inlaws during the day, I want to make sure they know what's good,
what's bad and what's an absolute no-no for the baby. Please suggest a
book that details or atleast outlines foods accordingly. My rest of
the family (except DH) seems to think that sugar, nuts and salt don't
necessarily harm the baby. I'm really worried. They won't feed her
anything without telling me first but I want to make sure they have
ample knowledge about baby foods.

Please suggest a book so that I can check out from the library or buy
if needed.

Thanks.

I found LLL's The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding section on starting
solids to be extremely helpful. Also Dr. William Sears books, maybe The
Baby Book or the Family Nutrition Book.

I think you need to work the other way around. Find a book that
says the the things you agree with (rather than finding a book to
agree with). For food, you can find people who will say just about
anything. A book by an Atkins person will be totally different that
someone worried about alergies, or someone worried about "processed
foods" or "unnatural foods" etc. The important thing is to decide
what you want to feed your kid, and then tell your relatives.

Well nuts can be a choking hazzard, but sugar and salt are both a
question of "how much". Neither is toxic or will "necessarily harm"
the baby. (Don't mix up "too much salt is bad" with "salt is bad".)

In any case, I would not focus on "make sure they have ample knowledge
about baby foods" because that means different things to different people.
I would make sure that they know what you want them to feed to your
baby, and what they should not feed.
