Fundraising ideas for Boy Scout troop
Rosalie B. wrote:
Does your library have a book sale of surplus books? Ours does about once a year, and so did my mom's alma mater. They collect books throughout the year and then have a sale. Could you have an auction? They could collect items from people to auction. Stuff that I've donated to Freecycle has gone to church auctions. I was also trying to think of a service that the boys could sell - like lessons on how to use computers or something like that. OK, this might be a completely wacky idea, but I wonder if there would be any market for Scouts running birthday parties with some sort of outdoor theme, or science theme, or whatever the heck Boy Scouts do? I've been to so many parties where, even if the party is at the kids' house, someone comes in to entertain (magician, potter, pony rides, whatever.) I wonder if anybody would like to hire Scouts to run a party (at the child's home) with things like knot-tying, building a fire in a fire ring and roasting hot dogs, learning how to use a compass, etc. I think my 6-year-old son would love something like that.
