bulletin board ideas
i am looking for recommended sites or books for bulletin board ideas.
turns out the several idea books at the library just happen to be missing. musta been good ones. i looked briefly at Borders but the one book they had for preschool grades wasn't shelved where it was supposed to be. i found a site that has some pretty good ideas, but i'm still panicky. i have 9 boards to do each month. i share this job with another preschool mom. i've talked to the people who had the job previously and they all stressed, "keep it simple!" but i'd still like some concrete ideas so i can begin sleeping at night instead of experiencing panic attacks. i'm sure everything will be fine, i mean, they are JUST bulletin boards. but i want to be prepared before i tackle the project. since it's a co-op, the parents have jobs. we have two jobs since we have two kids. i chose taking care of the guinea pigs last year (which turned out to be a lot since hardly anyone signed up to take them home! but i'd rather they stay with us than someone who doesn't really want them in their home). kelly chose the playground. i ended up doing both jobs or they wouldn't get done. since i drop the girls off and pick them up, the teacher has access to me and wants to know why new wood chips are down, or the garbage on the playground isn't picked up. so i do it. so this year i chose jobs i can do on my own and not rely on anyone else. also jobs that don't require people interaction ;-) guinea pigs again and bulletin boards. when i was laying awake panicking one night, kelly says, "what did you pick bulletin boards for?!" grrrrrr! thanx for listening. and oh yeah, any recommendations? pam who can't wait for September 8th to roll around! Here are some things I did for the bulletin boards when I had a grade one
class: One board was a giant calendar for the current month. We also had a seasons one, and one that represented a theme for the month. In my current grade four classroom, one bulletin board is a giant map of Canada. We had Christmas/Easter themes at appropriate times as well. Other ideas include class birthdays, helper jobs, manners, cooperation, colours, numbers, letters, trees, the list of themes could go on and on. I am not sure where you are, but in most places, you can buy prefabricated bulletin board kits, and that is what I always use in my classroom, because it makes your life that much easier. Will one board be dedicated to student art work? I hope some of these ideas help. I would definitely go with the prefabs, though. You can get them for all of the themes I listed, plus dozens more. You just have to choose the theme, and then all it involves is deciding how to arrange all the pieces. -- Terri & Rob Colton (11-29-00) Aimee and Kylie (12-22-03) Visit us at: http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/a..._kylie_colton/ " |
