Default Gosh Darnit!

I delivered DS 10 weeks ago and I've already started my menstural cycle
back. I woke up this morning with some cramping and soforth. Is it
normal for the cycle to come back so quickly postpartum? I'm still
exclusively BFing my son so I figured I'd at the least have another 2 or
3 months. This really depresses me. I've always had really heavy
painful periods (had to be hospitalized a couple times because it was so
heavy) so I'm not looking forward to this. I guess it makes sense why I
was in such a foul mood last night- PMS and all. So my question is, is
it normal for it to come back so quickly postpartum, especially since
I'm BFing?

Someone mentioned in MKB that it's not uncommon to get an early period while
nursing then nothing for months, called it a 'foal heat' or something...see
Jill's thread.

yes- I thought I had started a period and even felt PMS, but it was just
like the start of one, it was VERY brief and it ended up going away soon
after I posted. Have had nothing like it since.

In addition to what others said, I had heavy unovulatory periods once
in 45 days or so. There's a high chance that you don't get one every
month like clockwork.

Not common, but within the range of normal. Mine came back at around then with
my singleton. Even with fully BF twins I got only six months off. Or as others
have said, it may be a pseudo-period and not come back.
