My 16 year old daughter has really pale skin, I'm wondering if she
could be deficient in something?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated

People who have pale skin can have anemia. The first thing that comes to my
mind is not enough iron in her diet and vitamin B12 decifency. The second,
is heavy periods. I would share your concerns with her doctor, especially if
you don't feel comfortable talking about her periods with her.

She should be checked for anemia. It's not that uncommon in teenage girls
(I was, myself, for awhile). I found out my 6 year old son was anemic this
past December. He's been taking iron supplements since then, and his blood
level is just about back to normal. I really think his color is better too,
and his energy, although of course I'm *looking* for those things to happen.
Still, comparing him now to a photo of him taken in November is dramatic.
It wasn't a very good pic, and the lighting was strange, but he looks tired,
pale and totally washed out. Could be mid-blink, but his eyes are half shut
and he just looks drained.

In his case, they think the anemia has slowly been brought about by the
monster nose bleeds he's had since he was a toddler.

Laura
