Default what were you most hungry for after birth

We are having our baby in a birthing center, so we have to take our own
food to eat afterwards.

So i need some help deciding what to take, here are my choices so far:
Manicotti
-or-
Vegetarian Chili

Thoughts anyone? I think I am taking plenty of fruit and they have
water there. I'm also taking a bottle of champagne.

Well.... that's a hard one. The only thing I ate between my water
breaking at 1:45am and giving birth at 11:15am was a yogurt around 6
am, and I didn't keep all of it down (most of it, though). I took sips
of water during the pushing stage, and was even a little shaky,
possibly from blood sugar issues. But as soon as I had given birth,
they asked me if I wanted to drink some juice, and we had Tropicana
pure premium grovestand orange juice with extra pulp, and it was the
MOST DELICIOUS thing I'd ever tasted. Nice and cold, and BURSTING with
flavor. Prior to giving birth, I really didn't want anything to eat or
drink (except the water) but right after.... wow.

Beyond that, though, I remember my mother making me fried egg
sandwiches with baby spinach, a bit of raw onion, mayo and two fried
eggs. I think I ate that several times in the few days that followed my
daughter's birth, and it also tasted so *right*.

After my daughter was born (about 5 minutes) the most wonderful angel
bought be a cup of tea and a slice of toast. When I went down to the
operating room for some stitching, the anesthetist (who was only going
to give me a spinal anyway) asked me if I'd had anything to eat or
drink, to which I replied that I'd had a cup of tea and a piece of
toast. He then proceeded to tell me that I shouldnt have been offered
anything at all blah blah blah etc etc....Me and the seniour theatre
sister just looked at him...he shut up. I'd been in labour for 12 hours,
missed out on dinner the night before, had had contractions every 30
minutes for the 48 hours prior to being admitted to hospital and I was
now being transported to the operating theatre in order for the surgeon
to stitch a 4th degree tear...enough said.

Food. Anything. I would have eaten a rat at that point, only I didn't
know how hungry I was til I started eating. I had loose bowels all
night, and by morning couldn't stomach anything. My midwife was pushing
yoghurt w/granola down my throat and tried a few hard boiled eggs
thru-out the day, but not much. I did manage a lot of gatorade. After
she was born just before 10pm, the nurse went to the hospital machine
and got me a sandwich on soggy bread, chips, and an apple and some
juice. I started eating then scrafed it down suddenly my stomach
realised how empty it was!

AH, champagne. I'd planned to have wine as a pain killer during labor
if I needed it, but for awhile the thought of alcohol was just
revolting.

I was more thirsty than hungry. I drank 3 straight glasses of cranberry
juice right after the birth. I was hungry later that night, but didn't have
a particular craving for anything. I'd go with the manicotti, but that's
just a personal preference.

oh yeah, the nurse made me some hot tea about a half hour after baby was
born. I'm not usually much of a tea drinker, but it tasted sooo good and
the heat made me calm down and relax a lot.
