Parents charged in death of 3-year-old just back from foster care

Tampa, Florida - In Tampa, a couple is charged today in the death of
their 3-year-old son.

Authorities say the youngster was just recently returned to them after
living in foster care for two years because of broken limbs suffered
as an infant.

Police say the arrests came when the mother told authorities she saw
her husband punch the boy in the back of the head and slam him against
a wall.

Twenty-one-year-old Ronald Paris is the father of Ronnie Paris. The
father was charged today with felony murder and aggravated child
abuse. The 20-year-old-mother, Nysheerah Paris, is charged with child
abuse neglect.

Police say the parents were in Bible study at the home of friends 10
days ago when they discovered Ronnie was not breathing.

The medical examiner’s report said the boy died of trauma to the back
of the head that was intentionally inflicted.

McElroy said the boy had been placed in foster care when he was 5
months old after authorities investigated a broken arm and broken leg
that the child appeared to have suffered on separate occasions.
