Hooray Bobinogs!
Just thought I'd say a little hooray for Bobinogs, (a TV show aimed at
toddlers/pre-schoolers here in the UK on CBeebies (a BBC channel for small kids)) before the whole world flames them! They had a feature on babies today, which started with 3 months old Cara. They showed her bathing, sleeping etc, but when she was hungry, she was breastfed! The mum didn't get all shy either - you didn't see her nipple, but you could see her breast, so at least kids knew where she was feeding from... I know this will prolly get slated but what's the point in educating kids via TV, if you're too scared to educate them properly. Yay for Bobinogs and Cbeebies! Lucy |

Last night I watched Vet Safari - two vets in Africa who spend their days with wild animals. With wild animals and their 9mo daughter. There was a bit about bottle-feeding a wildebeest baby and the woman was saying how she always gets a good feeling when she can feel them latching on, and then they went on to baby's evening. Which was shot in a hotel room, with Mum sitting on a bed nursing her daughter and saying "there, from feeding one baby to feeding another baby" and I was so pleased to see her breastfeeding, openly, on pre-watershed tv. Of course, you couldn't see anything, because you can't, but that's what we need more people to see! |

Hooray Bobinogs!
yeh, my son loves bobinogs, don't know if he watched it yesterday though,
but he's well aware of breastfeeding, he'd probably make a fuss if he saw a baby being bottle fed. Anne |

How cool - I get so tired of bottles shown as the default baby-feeding
method on kids shows! there was one book my son had out the library that started with mummy being tired, so a bunch of relatives offer to look after the baby, then the words say "mummy fed the baby and went upstairs to bed", now what pops into mind is mummy breastfeeding, otherwise why couldn't granny do it! What is actually pictured is baby sat in a highchair and mummy spoon feeding baby, I so wanted to draw a new picture of mummy sat in a rocking chair nursing! I suppose at least that one time it wasn't a bottle. Anne |
