Is anybody on depression medication and breastfeeding?

The doctors have prescribed me Prozac.

Just wondering if there is anyone out there that is going through the same
thing and breastfeed while take medication??

Hi I am on Sertraline (Zoloft), and all is well. I have only been on the
meds 9 days and the difference in me is amazing.

Take a look at this page about antidepressants while breastfeeding.
On there my drug is the most preffered choice by drs and yours the least.

http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/...hale10-02.html

I am a mom of 5, and have had a vicious circle of antenatal and postnatal
depression. I fought taking meds for so long, but now I am soo much happier.
I thought it would harm my baby and I felt guilty, but he is happy now he
has his moommy back to her old self!

Best of luck!

Good for you! How is it going?

My only regret is that I didn't begin meds earlier.

Doing really well. I responded to the meds within a day, from what I
can tell. Been good since then, laughing with DH and playing with P.
Now I'm getting what being a mom is like :-).

That's really great. When you're depressed even the things that should
bring you joy seem dark and empty. You know there is something good
there, but you really can't quite see it. When you begin to feel
better, it's like a curtain is being drawn back. I'm so happy for you
Elana. Welcome back into the sunshine.

Yes, many of us.

The doctors have prescribed me Prozac.

Prozac isn't the preferred drug, but if you didn't take it during pregnancy
and your infant's not a newborn, it's probably fine.

Thanks :-). I went to the counsellor today, and we were talking about
people having more than one kid, and how I couldn't even imagine why
people would, since it's so not fun. Or at least I did a month ago.
Now I get why.

It really is a curtain, blocking out all the sun. Phew. Go get me some
sunblock :-)
