That might be an understatement!!! :-)

True...and I think children cope better than anyone with birth and death.
When I had just turned three - and I remember this - I was taken to see my
grandfather laid out in the funeral home. My grandmother never quite forgave
Mum for taking me, but I coped just fine. I hadn't believed he was dead
until I saw his body, and I remember being not particularly upset, but very
aware that he was no longer inhabiting his body, and I told Mum this at the
time - that he was obviously living somewhere else. He didn't look like he
was sleeping, he looked empty somehow.
I was supposed to see my younger sister born when I was five, but she was
born in the wee hours of the morning, and after being up all night waiting I
fell asleep. So to this day I've never been present at a birth - other than
those of my own children!

Ahhh yes on the front cover of my book it mentions that it is one in a
series of *Health* books. I find mine fascinating, everyone is so refined
and polite and even birth is written about with such calm. Shame that
reality isn't always the same as the written word. I'm going to keep my eye
open for more books in the series because they really are an eye opener.

Todd thought you might be interested in a passage from an old book I

have
been reading. (One of my pass times is reading old books) The book is
called What A Young Husband Ought To Know By Sylvanus Stall, D.D. and

was
written in 1897.

There is a similar book, what a young wife ought to know, hilarious

reading,
but emminently sensible, though I plain laughed at the comment that
childbirth shouldn't hurt til you start pushing!

Also suggests that young boys should hold there mothers hands in labour,

so
they learn what their mother went through for them and can be thankful for
it!

Sounds oppressive and misogynistic if you ask me. I wonder if all men
were like that.
