Default any data on use of car seat as a relaxer?

is there any clinical studies which indicate that this is harful to
baby?my wife & i are in disagreement on this.our car seat has a
rocking base & our baby enjoys being strapped in. i wouldnt like to
exclude its use just based on a rumor. thx

There's some evidence that being in a car seat can lead to low oxygen
levels in newborns (link to a popular account of the research):

I don't know if there's any evidence that, for example, 3-month-old
infants experience the same problems, though.

My second child took naps in the baby car seat until she was 4 months
old. It was easy for me to carry this way from room to room and I
could rock her to sleep while I was doing something else (reading,
watching TV) etc. Don't know if this is what you're asking. I used it
mainly for the naps. Not 24 hours a day.
