Drug question
I seem to have a stubborn yeast infection - after two rounds of
Monistat, it still hasn't completely gone away. :-( My OB wants to give me a 3-day course of Terazol cream, which he says is a class C drug. Does anyone have any experience with using this while pregnant? I'm about 26-1/2 weeks, if that matters. Jeanne EDD 10/12/03 with #2 |

Throw out all the sugars and most of the yeast products, since they can produce a 'climate' for yeasts to flourish. Fruits are OK, but not the very sweet ones, like melon and banana. Grapes are totally out since they contain a type of yeast themselves. Instead of bread try to eat crackers or zwieback (if you can get that). It sounds weird and almost impossible, but things like rice, pasta, all vegetables and lean meats you can still eat. Be careful with milk and milk products (especially cheese). Believe me, it can work miracles! -- -- Ilse mom to Olaf (07/15/2002) TTC #2 "What's the use of brains if you are a girl?" Aletta Jacobs, first Dutch woman to receive a PhD |

I'd actually been thinking of looking into dietary changes, but hadn't gotten around to investigating what I'd actually have to change. (I was worried I'd have to give up essentially all carbs, which didn't sound like a good idea while pregnant.) Giving up dairy would be really hard, but I may have to give it a try. Thanks! I'd actually been thinking of looking into dietary changes, but hadn't gotten around to investigating what I'd actually have to change. It can be tough, but there are quite good resources. I myself used a recipe book for people with ME, who often suffer from continuous candidiasis (which is the offical term for yeast infection). It contained three levels, the first was the most strict, then the regime got more and more flexible as the symptoms would go away. I can send you a great recipe with rice and peppers if you like, I still love it! Doctors can be quite skeptical about this though. I had one tell me 'yeast infections do not exist', and that was it. Changed doctors the next day... I'd recommend to google the subject and try to find some sited that are more explicit about what you can and cannot eat. Good luck! -- -- Ilse mom to Olaf (07/15/2002) TTC #2 "What's the use of brains if you are a girl?" Aletta Jacobs, first Dutch woman to receive a PhD |
