Can herbs cause spotting?

This is a TTC question.

This cycle I have been taking a pre-conception vitamin that has, in
addition to the regular stuff, 50mg of chasteberry (vitex) and 100 mg
of wild yam. Now I've had spotting on 7DPO,8DPO, and today is day 9DPO
and it looks like it's still hanging around. It's very light, no need
for even a pantyliner really, but has gone from brown to more reddish
brown. I have so far in my menstruating life only spotted on day
12-the day before I get my period so it's very unfamiliar to me.

Can these herbs make me spot for so long before my real period comes?
It's the only thing I can think of. If so I think I will stop taking
them cause it doesn't seem to be worth the hassle.

I've taken Vitex and Wild Yam to get pregnant twice and spotted once. I
thought it was implantation spotting but it wasn't cos I didn't get pregnant
that month.

Something makes me think it's not the herbs though.
