Default Homeopathy & pregnancy - ??

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has opinions on homeopathy during pregnancy. We
haven't been to a homeopath yet but were contemplating it for my wife's rash
(PUPPs?) because it seems to be getting worse and the steriods and benadryl
aren't cutting it.

Someone recommended a website for NASH (North American Soc. of Homeopaths)
and we tried to look up "registered" Drs in the area but the closest one is
3 hours away!

Does anyone know if you can consult with them over the phone? Given that
we're 37 weeks pregnant now I'm not keen on driving 3 hours away from home
base.

Thanks,

Kevin

My homeopath assured me that any homeopathic medicine is safe during
pregnancy, since it is usually very diluted. However, you should be
careful with herbal preparations that are not truly homeopathic. On the
label you can see the dilution factor, which is a letter plus a number,
e.g. C100. That assures you it's homeopathic.

It's a quack. I wouldn't bother, but do whatever you two like. It
won't harm her.

Have you seen the news story about homeopathic-like dilutions of histamine -
dilutions that likely didn't have any histamine molecules - had a
histamine-like effect on basophils?

Pretty incredible.

A quote from the story...

Like homoeopathic remedies, the solutions in the experiments were so

diluted that there was no realistic chance of a single molecule of the
substance remaining in the liquid...Professor Ennis emphasised that the
research does not prove that homoeopathy works, nor does it even show that
Dr Benveniste was right because he had used a different test for a
high-dilution effect. "The paper didn't test homoeopathy, it tested high
dilutions of histamine. I know what we tested and I cannot explain the
results," said Professor Ennis.

The French biologist Jacques Benveniste died just recently.

I hope he heard of this report before he died.

Homeopathy: Can't hurt. Might help. Don't comprehend it, but have seen it do
some pretty strange things and work some 'miracles' quickly.

*DO* check to make sure it's not something more serious--that itchy can be a
sign of liver problems.
