Default Particularly PREGNANT Feldenkrais students and practitioners

PARTICULARLY **PREGNANT** FELDENKRAIS STUDENTS AND PRACTITIONERS...

THE GREAT BIRTH ROBBERY

"The Feldenkrais Method is a form of somatic education that uses gentle
movement and directed attention to improve movement and enhance human
functioning."
http://www.feldenkrais.com/method/faq.html

ATTENTION Female Feldenkrais students and practitioners - particularly
PREGNANT Feldenkrais students and practitioners...

Why not direct some attention to birth position and thereby enhance human
BIRTH functioning?

Semisitting and dorsal delivery positions deny sacroiliac movement thereby
closing birth canals up to 30%.

"Alternative" delivery positions (side-lying for example) allow maximal
sacroiliac movement and thereby OPEN the birth canal the "extra" up to 30%.

WARNING #1: Some MDs and CNMwives let women "try" "alternative" delivery
positions then move them back to semisitting or dorsal (close their birth
canals!) for the actual delivery.

WARNING #2: MDs use forceps and vacuums while KEEPING the birth canal
closed up to 30%...

I hope Feldenkrais practitioners will make birth easier for pregnant
students by directing attention to birth position thereby enhancing birth
functioning.

For pertinent cites and quotes from the medical literature...

BEGIN excerpt from Anat Baniel and WOMAN'S WORK...

Moshe Feldenkrais was interested in lost movement patterns...but so far I
have
been unable to find a single reference from him regarding what I call The
Great
Squat Robbery...

See Feldenkrais lesson: Effortless Squatting
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group...t/message/2211

I am interested in Feldenkrais because squatting is an "excluded and
unconsidered" movement pattern and according to the FELDENKRAIS GUILD of
North America:

"The Feldenkrais Method DIRECTLY ADDRESSES...recovering excluded and
unconsidered
movement patterns or actions."
http://www.feldenkrais.com/standards/index.html (emphasis added)

So far the Feldenkrais folks do not seem interested in PREVENTING the
exclusion
of "excluded and unconsidered" movement patterns!

I had thought Feldenkrais folks would be first in line to help prevent The
Great
Birth Robbery and The Great Birth Robbery...

END excerpt from Anat Baniel and WOMAN'S WORK...

Anat Baniel never responded.

The Feldenkrais Guild responded - but only to say they were not interested.

Thanks for reading,

Sincerely,

Todd
