Bromocriptine
Isn't this the Parkinson's drug that thay used to use to stop women from
lactating? I thought there was a substantial risk of stroke, seizures, and heart attack from using this drug. I thought that was why it isn't prescribed to stop lactation anymore. I don't think it's used any more to stop lactation, possibly because that's viewed as something too trivial for the possible side effects. But it used to treat hyperprolactinemia, which is elevated levels of prolactin often (but not always) caused by tumors on the pituitary. cheers, Aviva TTC #1 |
