I live in the State of Texas. Has anyone here filed a motion to decrease
support and if

or down by x percentage (15% in AZ). The process for filing is simple,

but
if you are going to argue a decrease, know the laws first to build your
argument. Are you going to attribute income to a non-working CP? Does

the

The process for filing in your county can be found out through your court
clerk. The law is the Texas Family Code and can be found on-line. Not sure
what federal rulings on child support would be applicable to Texas though.
And you could always give your local Attorney General's office (child
support division) for legal advice as well ... there's enough info out
there to do it "pro se" but most Judges aren't too fond of dealing with the
unrepresented - you may, also, want to find out from the district clerk if
the Judge who handles family law cases has a problem with parents who come
in without a lawyer. Not that they'll rule against you but you just don't
want to waste your time by waiting for the hearing and making an appearance
and having the Judge order a postponement until you find yourself an
attorney.

Study your state's statutes/guidelines well and make very sure you will
not end up paying more--this happens.

You can request a review of child support through the Texas Attorney
General's office. Go to the Child support link on their website
http://www.oag.state.tx.us/index.shtml and you can find the
information on how to open a case with them.

Child support can be reviewed in Texas every 3 years, and if the
calculation would be + or - at least $100.
