I'm new to this group, am a breastfeeding mom, and would like to know
if there exists any research/data about the infants that have
contracted pertussis...whether they were breastfed or not.

Yes.. many times they die. Babies are most likely to be injured when they
are under a year old. You will need to make sure you are very much aware of
who your child comes into contact with. Many adults who just seem to have a
bad cold may actually have pertussis. You need to be aware of the levels of
pertussis in your area, like checking in with your County Health Department.
