On the other

hand,
you could just keep going to this guy and then not turn up for the
scheduled C. It's not like they're gonna send the cops around to

your
house if you're a no-show! Call the hospital the night before and

tell
them there is a 'family emergency' and you'll be out of town for the
week. Unless your OB has satellite tracking technology, you should

be
OK. It would be kind of sad if it had to come to this.

Why should it have to come to this? She's not the one doing anything
wrong, so why should she have to lie and sneak around? Besides, that
sort of behaviour is a waste of other people's time.

If Wendy decides she wants to go for a VBAC, she should just tell him
so, straight. If he's not happy with it she should certainly give

very
serious consideration to changing doctors. All that's perfectly
legitimate - why try to hide it?

I don't think that she should have to try and hide it. I think that a
dr who resists even having a *discussion* with his patient about the
*possibility* of a VBAC is not going to be a Dr who will help his
patients have a VBAC. The OP should change providers if she really
wants one. One the other hand, if, for whatever reason, the OP cannot
change providers, it is important to remember that it is her body and
her decision about how she gives birth - she should not left with the
impression that a dr can force her to have a medically unwarranted
section against her express wishes.

I completely agree with all this. I just don't see any point in
scheduling the section in the first place if she doesn't want to have
it. Rather than put herself in the position of having to cancel it at
the last moment - and then lie about the reasons for doing so - it would
make a lot more sense for her to just refuse a scheduled section from
the start. (And, if he seems the least bit unhappy about this, to think
very seriously about going elsewhere - after all, she wants someone who
won't just half-heartedly accept her insistence on a VBAC, but someone
who will actually be prepared to work along with her to help that to
happen.)

All the best,

Sarah
