A question of Logic
Let us consider the the claim, presuming they are about logic, and we
advocates against spanking are not 0:-, that it's logical to use spanking with a child while of course our comparison to an adult being assaulted by the exactly same actions against them. Looks good, doesn't it? I mean children ARE different aren't they? A five year old child does not know what an adult does, and cannot process any reasoning reliably that would allow them to know exactly and precisely WHY we will not let them smack their baby sister. So aversive training through pain, a spanking, seems to make perfectly good sense, doesn't it? I did a short bit of work with developmentally disabled people. They exhibit, some, the same characteristics. They might lack cause and effect reasoning, and have limited or not capacity for abstract thought. Some are so catastrophically disabled that they can barely function to take care of their simplest needs, even feeding themselves is a difficult undertaking for them. So, if they "smack their little sister" would it not be logical to spanking them, or use CP on them to teach them better? Logical or not, it's against the law. And it is NOT logical to teach them that way, or a child that way, because it will produce the same range of unwanted results. The person will stop learning. They will start doing bizarre things, mostly unwanted behaviors. What's even more though provoking is that the disabled person, say at a 5 year old level of understanding most likely will never progress beyond that stage, show shouldn't aversive conditioning be a natural way to teach them to avoid certain behaviors? Like hit them for doing what you do not want them to do..give them pain? Yet the child, that DOES have the potential for learning at an abstract and cause and effect level it's okay to hit? Strange, Doan. You people are very strange indeed. And the law is coming for you all. You will not be able to happily say, in your lying way, "let them make up their own mind," because you and others have forced the issue by not controlling yourselves, and there will have to be a law. You would NOT establish a line of demarcation. You would NOT speak out against those "spankers" that in fact beat. You would not confront those that in their sick illogical way advocated for beatings and called them 'parent rights.' You, Doan, and all like you that do NOT speak up, have made mild spankings now impossible. It's just a matter of time. I had hopes you were intelligent enough, you and others like you, to wake up, and put the brakes on those that went so far out of bounds. But no, it's just, "let them make up their own mind." You have MORE responsibility for the coming laws that will NOT allow them to make up their own mind any more than even the ones that beat. Possibly you are really from the anti spanking side and have been here for years creating the very conditions that would topple any spanking at all, one side of the line or the other. What an interesting logical puzzle that is, eh? Kane |
