Default Swimming with Dolphins

When I heard this story I wanted to give Dolphin Quest more press than
what it was getting, where better than usenet !

Paigee is an almost 7 yr old little girl. After 30 months of Cancer
treatment she has reached the end of the road. Paigee has 1-3 months
left to live. Paigee's last wish was to swim with dolphins in Hawaii.
After numerous calls to Dolphin Quest the single response to at least 5
messages was, "they couldn't do anything special and that they would
put Paigee on a waiting list". After more calls they finally reached
Jason. Jason promised, "that children like Paigee were special and
received special treatment", not the usual.

Paigee's wish wasn't special. She was in the General Public and got to
touch the dolphin a couple of times. It was difficult for Paigee to
keep up with the other children. She was often behind the other
children, it looked like she missed opportunities. The DQ employees
made no attempt to ensure Paigee had equal access. After complaining to
the Site manager Michelle Campbell, she said that Paigee's request was
mishandled and that she should have received a solo session with a
dolphin. Eventually Michelle said she could bring the family back to
Hawaii so Paigee had a second chance. Don't worry about expenses
Michelle said, that would be handled.

Later that day the family received a call from Jeff Jouett also from
DQ. Jeff as much as called the father a liar, saying they had never
told them about Paigee's condition. He told them that they had not
left multiple messages explaining her situation. He even said it
wasn't obvious that there was anything wrong with Paigee. Paigee has no
hair, she has an egg size tumor on the top of her very bald head, and
she is thin from one year of Chemo she completed July 4th, 2005.
Previously Paigee underwent Chemo from March 2003 to February 2004,
then relapsed with a tumor to the brain August 2004. Mr. Jouett was
the most offensive individual they'd ever dealt with. Jeff previously
was the head PR man at Marine World.

The offer to bring them back to Hawaii was revoked. Jeff did say that
DQ could arrange for a visit to Marine World. How is a visit to Marine
World even close to swimming with a Dolpin they asked. After numerous
rejections of the Marine World offer Jeff said that if they got
themselves back to Hawaii DQ would not charge them for another session,
wow $150. Jeff asked them to think about Marine World. They've left
messages for Jeff but he has not returned any.

Where things are at... No apology for the mishandled fiasco, Paigee
didn't get what they promised. Paigee's parents are left feeling like
they let their precious daughter down.

What is wrong with Companies like this ? Where is the justice ?

Dolphins for Paige !

Some posts are best ignored.
If you're not going to ignore these, please leave (remove
alt.support.cancer) from your replies.
alt.support.cancer's Charter prohibits requests for donations, probably
calls to action and definitely crossposts outside the cancer community.
Thanks.
