Default Name question for a friend

Hi,

We have some IRL friends who are expecting, and are
considering the name Jaden, but would like to know
whether it is considered a boy's name or a girl's name.
What's your guess?

Default Name question for a friend

I think it's mostly considered a boy's name, but I do know a little girl
named Jadyn (with the Y).

Default Name question for a friend

Just a quick follow up...I looked up the name on a baby name site, and it
says under gender that it can be either. It also means "God has heard" if
they are interested in knowing that. I know a bunch of celebrities named
their sons Jaden in the last couple of years...Will and Jada
Smith...Christian Slater and his wife...Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff...

Ok, that's all.

When I named my son Jayden 14 years ago (actually it was 15
years ago we decided on the name) it was considered a boy's
name, but it seems like recently it's common to use it as a
girls name too, especially in the US. Mind you I also have a
Rhys whom seemed to me to be a boy's name too and now with
Reece Witherspoon it seems I was wrong...lol
I named Jayden so because I liked the name Hayden but it was
a little common then, so I changed the H to a J. It wasn't
even in any baby name books then and lots of people 'still'
ask me if I made it up (which I did in a way, but I'm sure
there were other Jaydens around long before I named mine).

And me, a celebrity in my own lunchbox.

Currently, it's mostly being used as a boy's
name but it's occasionally used as a girl's name.

Best wishes,
Ericka

We named our son Jaden. It is ranked pretty high on the SSA popularity
list for boys (someone just told me it was #19 for 2003), but is not
even *on* the list for girls, so I do think it is more of a boy's name
than girl's, right now. However it is starting to be used for girls and
I'm afraid that trend may increase as it usually does.
