Mothers terrified by birth (three warnings)
MOTHERS TERRIFIED BY BIRTH
THREE WARNINGS BELOW Two recent comments elicited this post: 1. "We all wondered if she would ever actually get pregnant, because of her fear of childbirth (something her darling mother instilled in her)." 2. "I was terrified of childbirth with my first child because of the things my mother told me..." If mothers were/are terrified at birth, it seems logical that they would warn their daughters. See the three WARNINGS below... Regardless whether mothers were terrified at birth... Regardless of the birth position they used... I would like mothers to tell their daughters that... OBs forced many mothers to push their babies out through birth canals senselessly closed up to 30%. OBs pulled with hands or forceps and KEPT birth canals senselessly closed. OBs sliced vaginas en masse ("episiotomy") - surgically/fraudulently inferring everything possible was being done to open birth canals - even as they closed birth canals up to 30%. OBs sliced abdomens en masse ("c-section") - surgically/fraudulently inferring everything possible was DONE to open birth canals - even as they closed birth canals up to 30%. MOST IMPORTANTLY... I would like mothers to tell their daughters that... OBs are **still doing these things** - unnecessarily terrifying/endangering some mothers - unnecessarily terrifying/endangering their babies. Childbirth is usually painful - but it is easy for a woman to allow her birth canal to open the "extra" up to 30%. SOLUTION: ALL A WOMAN HAS TO... To offer her baby the "extra" up to 30%, all a woman has to do is roll onto her side as she pushes her baby out - or go to hands-and-knees - or kneel - or stand - or... (Use virtually any delivery position but semisitting and dorsal, both of which close the birth canal up to 30%.) WARNING #1: Some OBs will let women "try" alternative delivery positions - but will bring them back to semisitting or dorsal (close the birth canal) for the actual delivery. WARNING #2: It is standard OB practice to KEEP the birth canal closed if the baby gets stuck and hands, forceps or vacuums must be used. (OBs also chemically whip the uterus to contract violently - with the birth canal senselessly closed up to 30%.) Much birth terror is purely iatrogenic - physician-caused. Mothers should not have to warn their daughters about these things. OBs should simply stop doing them - and medical doctors in other specialities should encourage OBs to stop. (The problem and Dr. Sarah...) http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group...t/message/2843 Todd Dr. Gastaldo PS WARNING #3: It is standard OB practice to temporarily asphyxiate babies and rob massive amounts of blood immediately after birth to obtain blood samples or so babies can be resuscitated. This bizarre obstetric behavior - called "immediate cord clamping - is an obvious felony that robs the baby of up to 50% of the blood s/he would otherwise have transfused to herself/himself from her/his placenta. Do not let the OB clamp the cord until it has stopped pulsating and your baby is pink, breathing and not in need of resuscitation.
