A woman in charge of investigating child abuse cases for social services
is behind bars tonight after being arrested on drug charges.

It was on Port Republic Road Tuesday night that Cherrianne Long was
arrested. Sergeant Kelly Walker of the Waynesboro Police Department says
officers had been patrolling the scene, since it's a high drug crime area.

She says, "This particular area is known, from past experience and also
complaints from residents to be a high drug trafficking area."

Elizabeth Middleton, director of social services wouldn't comment on
Cherrianne Long directly, but she does say that each and every employee
is given a thorough background check.

The procedures include an FBI and a state police background checks.
Middleton says potential employees are then checked on the child abuse
and neglect registry as well as the sex offender registry for the state.

Long allegedly had oxycodone and methadone on her, two highly addictive
prescription painkillers. Walker says she faces two serious felony charges.

"Possession of the drugs without a prescription ... would've resulted in
a felony but possession with intent to distribute is in fact an enhanced
felony," says Walker.

Imagine that, 6.4 children die at the hands of the very agencies that
are supposed to protect them and only 1.5 at the hands of parents per
100,000 children. CPS perpetrates more abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse
and kills more children then parents in the United States. If the
citizens of this country hold CPS to the same standards that they hold
parents too. No judge should ever put another child in the hands of ANY
government agency because CPS nationwide is guilty of more harm and
death than any human being combined. CPS nationwide is guilty of more
human rights violations and deaths of children then the homes from which
they were removed. When are the judges going to wake up and see that
they are sending children to their death and a life of abuse when
children are removed from safe homes based on the mere opinion of a
bunch of social workers.
