Jess! You Gutsy Chick!...
Still love and admire reading your posts. I wish you all the best with everything you encounter. bimbette "Jessica" wrote in message news On Sat, 06 Sep 2003 07:49:27 +0000, Sophie wrote: Jess - she had Julianne, was very young? Jess is 21 now and will be 22 in two weeks. Jess is now a single mother after some things she really doesn't really like to discuss and is taking a year off from university to finish her divorce and sit around and wonder whatever possessed her to marry at 18, despite the fact that like all 18 year olds She Was Different And She Knew Better. She's on leave of absence from her WIC job and is strongly considering not going back and instead going back to emergency medicine. [And, for the nosy parkers, it's not a divorce without cause or one where she's considered at fault by the courts, and she has and will retain sole custody for the rest of the girls' minority.] Jess was most of the way done her degree in international relations but doesn't feel comfortable entering the foreign service as a single mother so is planning on starting most of the way over and going for public administration. Jess is tired. Julianne is 2 1/2 now and entering the Truly Terrible Twos, the kind that make you wonder about making a necklace of Xanax and licking it regularly. Alicia is 6, in first grade in a small class in a neighborhood school less than a block away, and is kicking some major tail. Jess will give you all (yes, *all*) LiveJournal codes if you want so you can read her rantings and ravings on a regular basis, but she does not like posting about them on a regular basis anymore. Jess is dating a very nice guy who's wonderful with her kids. Jess is enjoying the opportunity afforded by her divorce to get the furniture she never really liked out of her house anyway. Jess is noticing that when you're a single mom, the housework is simultaneously harder (the first time operating a lawnmower was fun) and easier (no longer are you the mystical Laundry Fairy that picks up socks from the floor). Jess is noticing that she and her daughters are much happier now. Jess needs chocolate. Jess is totally unable to believe she has to do all this alone. One house. One yard. One car, thankfully one that reliably starts. Two kids. Laundry. Two birds, three cats, a currently empty fishtank doomed to hold yet more amphibious life. Three meals a day to prepare. Two hands. Jess owes a lot to Kandee Wright for providing her and her kids with a place of refuge at her own personal risk when it was that or a shelter that she used to volunteer for. Jess has a continual headache and a script for Tylenol 3. Jess spends a lot of time at parks and playgrounds, looking at trees and watching the girls grow. She bakes brownies from mix occasionally and shares them randomly. In summary, Jess is doing better than she ever has before and anticipates a brighter future than she ever thought she had before. -- Jessica with her partners in crime, Alicia & Julianne http://jessical.livejournal.com/ "I never enjoyed motherhood until I became realistic about it. I think of you often. I'm really sorry to hear about you and Jason, but it sounds as if it's for the better from what you write. Good for you for raising Alicia and Julianne on your own, how incredibly hard that must be. I'm moving up your way in the next couple of months, by the way. I'll be quite a bit further north than you, though, in the white mountains range. You are truly an amazing mom and I hope you realize this. Your determination to pick back up and make the best of a not-so-good situation is absolutely outstanding. You have done so much for your daughters and someday they will come to realize this. They are very lucky to have an incredible mom like you. I hope that you are able to do things for yourself occasionally....somehow, someway. You really deserve it. If I were closer, I'd offer to take your girls so you could have a day to yourself. Anyways, I'm so glad to read that you are happier than ever because that's all that really matters in the end. BTW, I'd love your livejournal code if you don't mind sharing it! "AGreen1209" wrote in message ... Amanda (I think her screen name was A Green). I think she had an Elijah then a girl (or maybe another boy - I remember threads about more E names)? I'm still here - just lurking and seeing who's expecting :-) I have an Elijah and a Leah, and I'm either going to be working part time or not at all in about 12 months if all goes as planned. At that point, we are going to decide for sure about whether or not we are going to ttc #3. Amanda I have no idea why I thought you were thinking of more E names. Tell me you were so I won't think I'm going nuts - lol. Wow, #3, good luck deciding. -- Sophie - TTC #4 |
