ben Joseph wrote The Gospel of Mark (which is derived from the name
Maccabee), after the destruction of the Second Temple, which he had to keep
secrete from opposing Jews (especially the Sadducee Shammaite Elitists). He
wrote it to further define "the nature" of the First High Priest of the
Second Temple, Jesus the Christ, who had sons and brothers who were rebels.
Deeds of loving-kindness were to replace sacrifice in achieving atonement
for sins and Essene (Egyptian) Ritual Bathing, like the Meshuamadim sect,
would wash away sin and maintain purity.
