Today is her 1-month well-baby appointment, and this is when they start

her
shots (we are getting the combined shot which is why they haven't

already
started her)...

Help!! I am not sure my nerves can take seeing her cry when she is
stuck.....it is going to hurt me much worse than it is going to hurt

her. I
can't bear the thought of her hurting for even 1 second.

Please tell me it's not that bad?

In my experience, it's not that bad. It gets worse as they get
older. The one month shots caused a brief shout that ended as soon as
I picked him up. He barely even noticed the 2 months shot. At 4
months, he was kind of angry, but settled quickly. At 6 months...
well, let's just say it wasn't nice.

Interesting... my experience is the other way. #1 yelled blue murder at 2
months, wimpered at 3 months... and hasn't even seemed to notice for the
others (from 4 months on). #2 screamed dreadfully for about 15 minutes at 2
and 3 months, but only for a few minutes at 4 months. By the time she's 10
she might be down to a decent volume, but she's mardy :-)

Sarah squalled, but I nursed her right after the shot, and she calmed

right
down. She was a complete trooper. Remember that babies live in the
present, so unlike older kids, she isn't going to be sobbing for ten

minutes
from remembered pain - she'll get over it quicker than you can imagine.

Chin up. You can do this.

Donna

This was my experience, thank goodness....the doctor's let me stay in the
exam room for as long as I needed and nurse her, She squealed and cried for
a minute or two, and then nursed herself to sleep. Whew........
