Mother/father in different states

Bob Whiteside wrote: The most alarming stat for me about DNA testing is a study done in 2001 where the 46 largest DNA testing labs in the U.S. were surveyed. (Study done by the Blood Bank Association.) The results showed nearly 1/3 of men taking DNA tests were excluded as the father of the child they had tested against their DNA profile. Those results show me a huge number of men have a very high confidence rate about the validity of DNA test results to determine paternity fraud and there should be no reason of fear taking the test - unless you a pretty darn sure you are the father and trying to avoid getting stuck with CS payments. Many of those men probably simply didn't know if they were the father or not and wanted to find out. Since the reasons for the paternity test is not tracked it is hard to come to that conclusion. However, there has been an increase in "mother not tested" paternity tests since publicity about paternity fraud has been increasing and men have recognized not getting tested can result in years of CS payments for children that are not theirs. A better conclusion would be that in 2/3 of the cases tested, the mother selected the right man as the father and in 1/3 of the case tested the mother, either intentionally or unintentionally, named the wrong man as the father. And in 100% of the cases where the mother named the wrong man as the father, the mother always knew there was a possibility another man could be the father but she made a conscious decision to conceal information about the other possibilities. Unless, of course, she was a "Virgin Mary". |
