Default A New Arrival

Just wanted to drop a quick note that Salome Andrea was born on December 9th.

I had a c section after two failed versions. Thanks to everybody for your
advice and good wishes regarding my second version, it just wasn't meant to
happen. The doctor trying the version seemed very skilled and tried his
hardest, but he said that all the baby was doing was bending back and forth at
the waist.

She was 7-7 and 18 inches, apgars 8/8. Her cord was wrapped around her foot
and her neck and she was a little stunned at birth. Her birth was absolutely
the most amazing and happy time in my life. The c section went very smoothly.
I hated the feeling of the epidural, if I get to try for a vbac in the future,
I can't imagine wanting one. I bounced back pretty quick after the section,
got my IV and catheter out quickly, got to get up and shower before 24 hours.
I was in the hospital two days. I actually went to my brothers wedding today,
and even danced a little.

Breastfeeding is going well. She got to nurse for the first time while I was
in recovery and she ate for almost an hour and a half! I wasn't too skilled
with latching her on at first and my nipples are scabbed and sore, but I worked
with a lactation consultant and we are getting better. It's just a matter of
breathing thru her latching on at first, that hurts worse than my incision! We
also had our first nursing in public experience today, besides mommy being a
little clumsy, it went well.

I love being a mom and I can't believe how much I love my daughter. I am
thankful to everyone on this newsgroup for all the birth stories I have read
and all the helpful advice and such.

Sorry the versions failed, but it sure sounds like you
gave it your best shot! I'm glad your c-section went well.
The way the cord was wrapped might well have affected the
versions. Hope your recovery is swift and easy!

Best wishes,
Ericka
