Help, is this a pregnancy side effect?
For the last few days I have been having this symptom that I never had
before being pregnant, and I was wondering if it could be one of those odd pregnancy side effects. I have this burning sensation deep in my throat as though I am about to burp up something very acidic. I am not nauseous at all, and I have not thrown up, but the feeling is just there in the bottom of my throat irritating the heck out of me, and sometimes making me want to throw up. If this is a pregnancy side effect, is there a simple remedy for it? -kim edd 7 Aug 04 |

Tums, Mylanta, Pepto Bismol, or whatever your doctor recommends, taken after meals. gloria p |

welcome to the world of heartburn
Tums is a good option. If it doesn't work, try Zantac. Thanks, I will chew on some tums! I got heartburn for the first time when I was pregnant with DD ... I hate it worse than morning sickness. The other ting that works for me is taking care about my sleeping position .... sleeping on my right side seems to make it worse where sleeping on my left side means I don't wake up with that terrible feeling in my throat. Aside from tums, a glass of milk works wonders for me (although I have read the theory that dairy makes heartburn worse ... but it definitely makes mine a lot better). HTH Amanda You know, my grandmother told me this years ago (about the glass of milk) when I had an ulcer and my stomach was always upset in addition to *wicked* heartburn and to this day it works better than anything I've tried -- OTC or Rx. I get a nice big burp and the heartburn & reflux is gone...(till the next time) Carla #1 due 5/14/04 |
