Sleeping in the Crib

My 3 month old baby girl will not sleep in her crib. She will slp
everywhere else at anytime except she will not slp in her crib. As soon as
I place her in her crib she will wake. What are some of the things that I
can try in order to get a good nights slp for both her and I?

Let her sleep somewhere else. :-)

Seriously, there's nothing magic about a crib, and lots of babies don't like
them. Yours is young enough that she will probably still fit in a bassinet or
Moses basket (or for that matter, a blanket-lined dresser drawer or laundry
basket), or she could simply sleep on the floor or in your bed (with
appropriate safety precautions). Some babies sleep in a carseat or swing for a
long time because they aren't comfortable flat on their backs.

If she's outgrown the basket and similar solutions, and you don't sleep well
with her in your bed, you can keep trying the crib; she may accept it at some
point. Some things that may help a warm the bedding before putting her
down; put something that smells like you in the bed next to her (a breast pad
is good); create a cozier "nest" inside the crib with firm bolsters or rolled
up blankets.

But if she sleeps well in other places, why fight it? Let her sleep in another
place.

Let her sleep somewhere else. :-)

That was my suggestion. As long as you can keep her safe, just let her sleep
wherever. My first 2 kids did a lot of floor sleeping on comforters. They
also liked the swing.
My new baby sleeps better if I make sure the bedding is warm when I put her
down, going from warm body to cold sheet tends towake her.

Agreeing with the others. Let her sleep elsewhere. Does she sleep well in
your bed? Cosleeping is wonderful for moms and babies both.

but my husband and I fear that if she is allowed to sleep where ever she
would like this may not be safe in the long run. Once she gets older there
is a fear that we will not be able to place her in the crib. I will
certainly try the warming of bedding and making the bed cozier.

Mine did eventually learn to sleep in the crib for naps and even overnight
once they were older.If a baby has its own room, adding a safety gate and
allowing it to sleep on the floor is quite safe.
Most babies like being where the parents are during the day. Allowing the
baby to sleep in the swing, car seat or floor during the day will let you
get some rest and then u just have to worry about getting her to sleep in
the crib at night.

What about putting a moses basket or wherever she likes to sleep, in the
crib? Then she can get used to the location until she is ready to sleep
actually in the crib.

Sure, if you let her sleep in, say, the bathtub it might not be safe.
Cosleeping is safer than crib sleeping, though.

There are many safe alternatives to a crib. In fact, the crib is less safe
than some other places she could sleep, especially if the crib is located too
far from adult sight and hearing.

Once she gets older there
is a fear that we will not be able to place her in the crib.

Don't borrow trouble. If having her sleep in a crib will be important to you
when she is 6 months or 12 months or 18 months old, then worry about it when
she is 6 months or 12 months or 18 months old. Right now, her sleep habits are
not settled, and won't be for at least another month or so. They're going to
change in unexpected ways no matter *what* you do, so you might as well go with
the flow as long as you possibly can. Believe me, it's easier on everyone that
way!

If your baby SLEEPS, you are ahead of the game, no matter WHERE she sleeps.
